Older cats are the bomb! This is the Extrovert. We adopted him and his littermate when they were seven, two years ago. You do not need to adopt a puppy or a kitten for them to love you!
A blue tabby snuggled into a person’s lap. He is gazing up at the unseen person with adoration and is probably purring like a motorboat because he is Baby.

Two steps forward, one step back with this one. I’d completed ‘leaving’ but got irritated by the kerning so pulled it out & moved the letters. While I was at it, I redid some of the quilt blocks’ colors & thus frogged some stitching.

Cross stitch in progress. Working with two new threads on this one (silk & fuzzy) so I’m doing more test stitching than usual. Also trying a new-to-me technique with blending filament.

This is a Tiffany Aching quote: “Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.”
A cross stitch in progress. The words “Coming back to where you started is not the same as never” are readable. The last word seems to be “ving”. Around the edge are many small brown squares. Some of them have colors within, perhaps like quilt blocks, but none are complete. There are missing blocks along the bottom edge. There is also an unfinished sheep in the lower left corner.

Finished the Teresa Wentzler Summer Carousel Horse!

It took me 13 months, stitching mostly daily, and nearly 283 hours (calculated by audiobook run time).
A cross stitched black carousel horse. The horse is wearing a gold and blue saddle, with ivory ruffled fans behind its ears and on its rump. There are four more fans in each corner of the frame, and four bows in the center of the edges. There are also ridiculous amounts of green leaves and pink roses around the frame and decorating the horse.

I think I’m less than 10 days from finishing this piece. Maybe a week.

Then the gerbil brain will need to figure out what the Next Project will be.

Once again getting to the point where I have to decide if I’m cross stitching or back stitching every time I sit down. Yesterday was lots of back stitching. Today, only crosses (& a minor frogging).

The horse’s mane & face are about half-finished; fans in the corner and behind the ears are sketched only. Roses & leaves arch almost completely across the upper and right side; some are outlined and some are not.

Progress continues on the horse. I’m avoiding stitching in the eye until later; I don’t need the horse judging me. 🤣

This is Teresa Wentzler’s Carousel Horse: Summer. I’ve already finished Autumn. Spring & Winter will wait until I have the cross stitching bug again.

If I sit down to stitch before offering the Extrovert the chance to get snuggles, sometimes this happens.

Fabric shifted. I’d forgotten how relatively empty a quarter is. 😬
The same grey linen fabric. Now the back half and front legs of a black horse are present. The horse is wearing a golden saddle with a gold carousel pole. There are ivory bows in the center of the upper and right sides. The upper is back stitched and looks like a bow while the right is just a mush of pale color because it hasn’t been back stitched.

He’s feeling especially snuggly today.
A blue tabby has demanded the human snuggle him like a baby and additionally smashed his head into the human’s armpit. He gazes adoringly if dippily at the camera with his mouth partially open. It is not his best look.

I love showing off the difference between back stitched vs not back stitched, & this pattern indulges me.
A work in progress of a Teresa Wentzler carousel horse cross stitch pattern. This is the lower right of the work showing a plethora of pink roses climbing toward a blue and ivory fan. The leaves & roses on the left side are back stitched and look like leaves and roses, while the ones to the center and right are unfinished & look like blobs of color.

The aforementioned kitten quilt. Done as a scrappy string quilt-as-you-go on a fleece batting, then I decided to add a back & binding.
A small quilt, about 18” on all sides but not square. The quilt is scrappy in shades of blue, white, and black. The binding is dark blue except for one section of tan, where it’s lucky someone pre-measured the binding before starting to sew it on.
