Gonna give John le Carré another go. Tried Tinker, Tailor a few years back and just couldn’t get into it. I like the tv show of The Night Manager so maybe this’ll work out better.

Alone in Berlin was grim but a brilliant story. Forgot to post that I battered through the next Mick Herron on my list, Spook Street. Thoroughly entertaining as always.

Who was the cause of the Benfica curse?

Next is Alone in Berlin by Hans Fallada. Bought as a gift by someone who knows their stuff so looking forward to it.

Scotland’s Balon d’Or nominations. First time a Scot has been nominated since Ally McCoist in 1987. Brilliant for both.

Went on the Glasgow City Centre Mural Trail today. Here are a few of my favourites.

Guns of August is obviously brilliant if a little dense. A @richardosman1.bsky.social will be a good palate cleanser.

Barbara Tuchman’s classic The Guns of August is next for me. Think I’ve only ever read one Pulitzer winner before, To Kill A Mockingbird.

@footballcliches.bsky.social as seen in Four Shots in the Night by Henry Hemming.

“The Rolls Royce of investigations.”

Surely a new low?

The Trees is simply brilliant.

Visiting Northern Ireland for the first time this summer so swatting up on a bit history with my next book.

God I love @brookmyre.bsky.social’s writing. How the De Xavia trilogy hasn’t been made into movies or a tv show is beyond me. Great stories.

Next book The Trees by @percivaleverett.bsky.social.

Firing through the final book of the Angelique De Xavia trilogy by @brookmyre.bsky.social. One of my favourite writers.

Someone sent me this from the bad place.

Couldn’t agree more, loved this video when I was growing up.

Enjoyed Dead Mountain. Fascinating story and worth looking into if you don’t know about it.

Next is @stephenfry.bsky.social’s latest telling of the Greek myths. An excellent way to learn these stories cause, let’s be honest, no one really wants to read the original Odyssey.

Someone sent me this from the old place on @jeanna350.bsky.social’s account. Love this.

Lost my book thread from the old place. Boo. So here I go again. Saw this book recommended, no idea what it’s really about. Never heard of the Dyatlov Pass Incident. Let’s find out all about it.

Well, it is that time of year

Still my favourite. David Gray ruined it though.
