Anyway, we’re still friends on instagram — and I just saw that he and his husband-to-be are getting married this week ❤️ what a wonderful, beautiful, much-needed reminder that joy is precious and worth fighting for.

We ended up sitting there for hours. Just shooting the shit. And at some point it he confided in me — the first time he’d told anyone — that he was gay.
That was almost 15 years ago now. But I still remember how glad and also deeply sad I felt as he laughed away tears of relief.
