Bailey reminding me that pet therapy wasn't done yet.

Got my pet therapy at work today.
One of our former residents had 2 daughters that still visit regularly. The Friday daughter lives in the country and has a whole family of dogs - maybe she breeds them?
Anyway, Friday is the dog visit day, and when the dogs know […]

#yegbike repair and tuneup day. Adjusting and re-cabling the ordinary tired gravel bike, the all-year bike. I shouldn't say that I did the work - I stood back and Larry of @bikeedmonton.bsky.social
really did the work. I passed him tools.
The bike is now slick […]

The sunset is producing unusual fascinating light this evening. Dark orange skies producing a purple light. 5pm MST on November 9th, 2025 in Edmonton, Alberta. Looking west onto the Strathcona, Garneau and University neighbourhoods, taken from Saskatchewan Drive and 102nd Street.

I don’t have to crop the resident out of this Seasonal Selfie!

Seasonal Selfie.

Another #yegbike photo from the archive. The kilted mile? Something similar. My computer has the date of Dec 27 2014, not sure about the accuracy of that.
Dr. Darren Markland featured.

The #coffeeoutside game was strong this morning - or a memorial/vigil for our fallen comrade, Dr. Darren Markland.
To all the people there who I doubtless know online, I meant to talk to as many of you as possible, but there were so many people there! No slight was intended.

I remember now, there was a team of keeners and a team of slackers for the 2016 24hrs Of Adrenaline in Canmore, AB. Where it had been raining for at least 3 days. And Darren Markland had to lend me a proper mountain bike.

OK, we sti haven’t left yet. A relaxing pack up rather than a frantically stressed one.
Anyway, these are the provisions we have sourced from various local ethnic grocery stores.
The picture was taken in response to a conversation I’m having with my old friends who […]

We finally had a wake for my aunt who passed away in January.
There were family, Unitarian Church people, and Wagner Bog Natural Area group people there.
It was nice - and with that kind of crowd there, we weren't the only crazy #yegbike cyclists!
It was in Laurier […]

For the kidlet's recent celebration, I was also taken with providing the sound system. A very heavy aging tube amp and microphone array were carted by bicycle to and from the event in the community hall. Luckily a more or less level route is possible.
Special […]

For the kidlet's recent celebration, I was given the task of bartending. Her neighbour donated a Jockey Box with Keg of Italian Pilsner from Odd Company brewing.
Such fun to assembled, much more fun to draw pitchers and pints!

This road trip has had a side quest of me finding sloppy-joe type meals at family diners. Komfort Kitchen in Brandon MB was a high contender with a pulled-beef BBQ burger, on a locally produced bun. Cafe 4U in Battleford SK had high marks with Teppanyaki Beef.
But […]

Food culture and newer Canadians able to make their own cuisines more publicly is a great benefit to Western Canada.
Imagine stopping on an old-school prairie town main street like in Battleford - and find deluxe Asian cuisine!

I’m having a baked feta pita platter at the Olympia Diner in #ypg. The ex-pat is the wife’s friend, so I get lots of time to play on the phone while enjoying the excellent, but still piping hot, baked cheese platter.

#yegbike commute: perfectly pleasant at +12°C with a light southeastern breeze. Conditions downright ideal - traffic medium weekday busy, street life absent, a few joggers and dog walkers on the paths. Must be everyone is quiet after the bread and circuses last […]

There is a small subset of our 'Tupperware' containers - those that I know definitely which containers and lids match up. When I am forced to leave this subset, and search through the bins, I lose the will to live.
And also, whoever at Ziplock decided that different […]

The in-laws cabin at the back of the homestead. We overnight here, with only the sounds of the birds over the night. Often deer, beaver and moose are active in the creekside brush, but non detected by us last night.
The cabin is quite spartan (Lutheran?), but does […]

At the in-laws cabin at the back of the homestead, there was plenty of bird sighting and listening. But precious few birds that would stay still for phone camera shooting! There were red-billed Blackbirds, hatches and sparrows of all kinds, wrens and woodpeckers […]

All the information you need is on the task.

I so want to know what's in this building! I'm guessing rubber ducks of all sizes, eggs, large statuary and plastic animals, tubes, tape, glue and leaf blowers.

#yegbike commute; crazy warm at +19°C, with light southeast winds- I wore shorts TO work. Streets blessedly quiet, street life asleep or something, dog walkers, joggers and other bikes on the paths.
Gorgeous riding day, provided one is hydrated!

Watching a stream of pollen or something like it - presumably the runoff from our mini-storm. The river has risen a bit, so there must have been more rain upstream.
The beach is still there, whereas last week it was completely underwater. This weekend there were […]
