Instead of spreading mulch and picking up cigarette butts as they did in DC, some of us in Portland are hoping that the National Guard (fellow Oregonians) will get shovels and buckets of hot asphalt to fill in some potholes. 🤞

Let's go, Packers!

Surely I'm not the only person who reads "Trump announces", yawns and/or rolls eyes, and moves onto the next post?

Well! Aren't I special? I just got a follow from Elon Musk. Can't think what I, an internet nobody, said to provoke it, but all ya'll have taught me how to smash the "block" button. And I did. Thanks! 😘

It's full dark in PDX metro... and I haven't heard any (illegal) firework ranging shots preparing for NYE out here on the west side. Yay? Weird?

Yo, knitters! @judybecker (that would be the "Judy" of "Judy's Magic Cast On") has joined BlueSky!

Dear NFL post-game broadcasters,
Please stop adding the sounds of chanting crowds behind your green-screened broadcasters talking in front of clearly empty stands. We're not stupid. We'd like to hear what you have to say, without the noise.

The idea of JD Vance being a heartbeat away from the presidency is terrifying.

note to self: If you're making tea, pour the boiling water over the Get Some Zzzzs tea *before* you see what interesting people are saying on Bluesky.

Love that she just looks amused while he rants.

Love "please stand if you're able", instead of "stand!"

OMG! Aretha! #DNC
August 23, 2024 at 3:23 AM
It is full daylight! It won't be dark for more than an hour. Why are all ya'll setting off your illegal fireworks already? (PDX grumbles)

Ah, PDX weather in June... I'm reheating chicken salsa soup tonight (it was 52º today) and making a shopping list for dinner salads (it'll be 88º on Friday).

I love a whole whack about this new environment... but I miss listening to others gloating (is that too strong a word? perhaps enjoying?) the Packers winning (beating is too strong a word) over the Chiefs

I am at the
Me: You could put that into a smaller bowl.
Also me: I could. But the bigger bowl has a smaller base, so it will take up less shelf space in the fridge.
stage of Thanksgiving prep.

Hungry! I've got yummy Lemony Chicken and Spinach soup on the stove, but dinner (and leftovers, and lovely (silicon) bags to put into the freezer) are still 15 minutes away. It always takes longer than I think it will. Do I remember that? Apparently not. <sigh>

Random: I gave in. It's still (barely) September, but it IS autumn. House was 65, current forecast says it'll be colder tomorrow. I turned on the furnace.
