Henry moved to the UK in the early 1970s, and his sons David and Peter (my dad) left Malta to join him in 1973/74. Malta was a British colony from 1814 to 1964.

His son Henrico “Henry” Calleja, my grandfather, lied about his age to join the British Royal Navy aged 14. He spent many years in the navy as a cook, before settling in the UK in his fifties. He managed pubs & worked as a cook at a private school.
