People who lived through decades of negotiations aimed at Palestinian self-governance view this differently. People who love/lament both sides aren’t moral monsters.

The term applies to the IDF under BiBi *and* to Hamas, was my point. Palestinians have agency, as does the Arab and Muslim world writ large. From my perspective, 10/7 was a suicide bomb strapped to Gaza. They were banking on above-ground Palestinians taking it in the teeth yet again.

I agree. And yet the narrative in which Jews are cast as colonizers, not half the surviving remnant on earth is what vexes me and perhaps HRC also.
