Real ball knowers know that it depends on the game. Like rhythm games, I loathe playing them on staggered buttons

I'm still surprised Nintendo never played around with selling different layout joycons individually, feels like it could be a great use of the split controller gimmick

Nice, I was waiting for your list to drop! Thanks for the great work this year, and here's to more Nintendo and JRPG coverage in 2026 🫡

Genuinely my favourite series you guys do every year, I always look forward to it! Can't wait to see Oliver's too, and maybe Tom/Alex although that didn't sound that likely from the direct lol

Ofc the holy grail would be the Richard Leadbetter collection... how many Pateron subs would that cost?

Welcome back Google Stadia

Wonder if you'd like certain kpop like Yves or NMIXX? Yves especially, the title track on her album this year featured PinkPantheress and I feel like I'm increasingly hearing explicitly hyperpop influenced sound coming from Korea these days

Had to do a double take because I misread that as Persona (1996)

I'm very unironically looking forward to an Alex Switch 2 vid, big "polar bear in Arlington, Texas" energy

Time to buy some bespoke hoodies to celebrate 🎉

Did you ever give your thoughts on Star Ocean Second Story R? That game was also very HD-2Dy with 3D backgrounds, yet I don't think SE technically counts it as an HD-2D game

The video is going to be incomplete if it doesn't include footage of you playing Tony Hawk: Ride

Pretty pleasantly surprised tbh considering SEGA has kinda been one of the most sketchy in terms of physicals lately

Conversely, they'll probably recoup that in double dippers when the inevitable SWOLED 2 comes out lol

Definitely agree it won't "hurt" them, it's still ultimately only a deal breaker for a niche within the niche of enthusiasts... and as always software will be the real make or break, not hardware

You might've mentioned this on DF before, but it'd be interesting to do a video on the human side of image perception! Personal sensitivity always feels like a big part of these back and forths and I'm curious on the research for topics like that (how much is natural, how much you can "train" etc.)

Reminds me of the IGN SW2 review a little, simultaneously noting expensive price while also talking about how it doesn't close the gap between the home consoles of 2020. PS5/XSX haven't gotten cheaper at all, in what world can Nintendo match performance on handheld while also undercutting price??

Glad to see them doing poorly, tho maybe to be expected at launch. It's obv mostly enthusiasts rn who aren't going to go for a faux-physical, and hopefully they'll have more cart sizes to discourage this by the time SW2 is more of a casual staple.

Plus it feels like a compromise for the not as digital casual JP market, maintaining their large physical presence without it being prohibitively expensive. But you'd think they'd at least force publishers to use them correctly; we're still somehow getting code in box like Split Fiction or THPS
