@taravanho.bsky.social is joining me at St. Mary’s School of Law!

StMU, in celebration, is launching a BHR scholars-in-residence pipeline program.

It’s open to pre-tenured folks who have been at a law school for three years or less and would like to develop research in the BHR field.
This is a great opportunity for new scholars hoping to do work in business and human rights.

Help me spread the word!

Also the student editors of Yale Journal of Law & Technology were mindblowingly fabulous to work with. Professional, meticulous...challenging us on all the weak points we were hoping no one would notice... By far the most substantive editorial feedback I've gotten in my gazillion ys of academic life

“When universities start regulating … what they teach, support and stand for – driven by fear rather than principle – they are no longer just reacting to political threats, they are internalizing them. … that may mark … the end of their academic independence.”
Universities in Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union thought giving in to government demands would save their independence
Before the Nazis, German universities were among the best in the world. Step by step, the universities gave up their independence until they were instruments of the state.

“But every time something is renamed, it loses some of its original meaning.” - AW Tozer

I’ve heard folks talk about doing the work of DEI w/o calling it that. I understand why. But, this is my fear - that we will lose the meaning that made it important.
