In years gone past those pitching an envoy or spy to me were paid in gold coins. Alas, the local mint is out of gold, so this year we'll pay in dinosaur coins instead. 🤣

OK, I have printed out the final draft of translated treaties MS, and I'm ready with the red correction pen for the footnotes. Realistically, this means chasing names of places and people. Wish me luck 😬

It's 19:20, 35 degrees still, and I'm taking the slowest walk ever along the flattest possible route away from Freiburg: the river. Met this magnificent creature, sunnying itself just 2m away from me. Glorious evening

Made it back to Freiburg after an epic 9hr train journey. Upside: I have seen a bit more of 🇳🇱 and 🇩🇪 than I thought I would. And my old friend the hedgehog was waiting in the garden when I got home (honestly the blurry thing is a hedgehog!)

If you are not familiar with the concept of a balcony office, I fully recommend. It's +34 here in Freiburg, but the trees provide shade and birdsong. All is right in this little part of the world 🥰
