It all goes back to the fiat money system unleashed by Nixon in 71. Unfettered printing since then has hollowed out the wealth of the country and made wall street the only viable industry. Jobs went overseas. People were left stranded and angry.

Just look to the ozone hole experience. We ditched CFCs only because HFCs were cheaper, not because they ameliorated a problem. Incentive alignment is the only way we can get things done.

That's just giving him extra incentive to stay in office indefinitely. He will likely try this in 4 years' time.

The decentralisation scale is

Twitter: fully centralised (not)

Blue Sky: protocol allows for many orgs to interoperate, but everyone is on the main one (little)

Mastodon: protocol allows for small fiefdoms to interoperate (more)

Nostr: so decentralised it suffers from usability (most)

The bsky.social centralisation is a concern. Without viable and popular alternative platforms, the protocol is effectively centralised.
