In general I think monster girls are pretty great! but a lot of times people will throw some animal ears and a tail, maybe some horns and call it a monstergirl. Lame! Bug girls are great because they almost always have that monsterous energy!

yeah, it really isn't clear how awful shallow audience insert MC's are in general until you watch or read some strong character focused stories were the MC is their own person and is allowed to make mistakes, or has aspects that other characters like that isn't strictly being the main character
