exactly. nuclear weapons were a waste of resources. the dot com bubble was a waste of resources. ai isnt just "scientific progress," its a way for tech companies to get more of your data as you grow more reliant on them. also im not the person replying all day looking for discourse. shut up man

the human brain is incredibly complex and powerful. while how ai works is similar, its not getting to the same level any time soon and its just a waste of resources. ai doesnt get nuance and copies from its training data without question. it copies jpeg compression artifacts

exactly, image generation is useless, expensive and only exists to replace artists. highly specialized and efficient ai can exist for certain cases like education and data analysis but cannot entirely replace someone

its very different from photoshop. photoshop doesnt rely on other works to function as a tool. it exists in a vacuum. ai *needs* data to train on which comes from taking peoples work without credit or payment. even if its open source, its still bad

if you have "require attention for faceid" you can close your eyes or look away and it wont work. though if you believe you are at risk of being in police custody soon, just disable faceid like when going to protests etc.

btw the argument that we shouldnt be doing space shit because we have many problems on earth is fair but doesnt *quite* get the whole picture. most of nasa's spending is salaries on scientists and we can get/save tax money in plenty of areas before nasa

private companies can exist for iss and frankly should for more commercial launches but i dont trust elon with interplanetary launches and dont want him touching mars any time soon

so then naturally spacex (who get the freedom) has the better rocket making all the cybertruck owners shit on nasa saying that the age of private spaceflight is now and nasa should just focus on research and leave the launch vehicles to the private companies

they did for specifically gaming content! i barely saw anyone talk about it but it was really interesting to see (theres also 3rd party wrapped apps that are cool but an official one would be nice)
