bro does not know about Haas F1, the One American Team made explicitly to do this exact thing for americans in a european-dominated sport

unfortunately they were so american they ended up flying a literal russian flag on their cars in honor of the literal russian oligarch driving the car (badly)

honestly on account of there not being runners in scoring position every inning this was still moderately less horrible than the ALDS Siege of SoDograd

a reminder to all that this was good enough for one of the most infamously detail-obsessed groups in prog rock, there is literally no excuse

They'd probably bring up motorsports and/or combat robotics, ignoring entirely that the machines in those sports are themselves works of human art and that their value nor the credit for their creation isn't derived wholly from the guy who points at a vague concept and says "this is the way"

Not a lawyer myself, so no, I'm not familiar with prior law.

The basis of my reading is that creating queer content is a practice mostly done by queer folk, and thus refusing to transact on the basis of personal objection to queerness discriminates against both creation and creator. Could be wrong

Since this is the more active post rn, I want to let y'all know I've written a more complete plan of action here: bsky.app/profile/jeke...

Give them hell.
WASHINGTONIANS: Your job today-

1. Obtain a recording of this. Stripe could be subpoenaed for their recordings, but it helps.
2. If able, contact your lawyer to start a class action for a violation of RCW 49.60.030.
3. If you can't do (2), file a complaint with AG Brown. Link and info in next post.

Not to mention - Stripe has a development office in Seattle. Might well be an angle that having the employees there develop such a system would ALSO violate 49.60.030.

Getting this injoined in WA will likely happen a lot faster than Congress can move. I doubt Stripe has a way to stop doing this *only* for Washingtonians either, so it might outright force them to stop this entirely until they can develop a system to allow the discrimination again.

Not just that, but Stripe has offices in Seattle and San Francisco, which means they are bound by both state's laws. Applying pressure via mass complaint to lawmakers is going to make Stripe legal shit their pants knowing this policy has just put them at odds with both their home bases

RCW 49.60.030 allows for injunctive and monetary relief - that is, they'll be forced to cease the offending practice and make good any victims.

AG Brown can't directly seek action himself, only advise - but his involvement will either scare Stripe into compliance or make your case a lot easier.

RCW 49.60.030 makes illegal any sort of blacklisting action, along with discrimination in credit transactions, based on sexual or gender expression. Stripe operates from Seattle and thus has direct exposure to WA law.
