Difficult situation. I lived a similar situation a few months ago, was complicated deal with my intrusive thoughts about the expectations that other people might have on me. But if you want to focus and do something bigger with your life, that's the way.

If you played BG3, you're probably looking for Forgotten Realms lore (I don't like FR that much).
The best way to get deeper into FR is the 5e Swordcoast Adventurer's Guide, you can read the novels, but I think they are written by different authors and it's sometimes confusing.
