Keep in mind the feds are *illegally* using tax records for immigration, and are trying to get states to cough up driver databases for immigration. If this sort of data is collected, it *will* be abused.

No, this is not the US political system in general. Yes, campaign contributions are a big problem but this is much worse: open bribery of the President by giving him personal gifts. This is not normal and has not happened so brazenly in recent history.

One moment the point is collecting revenue. The next moment the point is bringing manufacturing to the US. The third moment it's balancing the trade deficit (which is pointless). Of course these purposes are contradictory and the long term effect will be to hurt the US economy, not help.

This is terrible for people who live in these communities. But at a country level we decided climate change was a hoax and we'd keep driving our 4 ton pickups and we're just starting to pay the price. Insurers are cold and calculating and will price it in whatever the general public believes.
