With international spillovers! Rightwing nutjobs like Bibi and Putin launch brutal wars of conquest / annihilation -> more votes for right-wing parties in the US and Europe.

Do I count 4 lights in a row that are all out?
November 11, 2025 at 2:36 AM
Thanks. Yeah seems like the consensus is about 6000-6500 untouched ballots plus 1700-2000 signature-challenged.
November 11, 2025 at 12:20 AM
Ah, Mike Baker says there might be 8,120 left to count, including a big chunk with signature challenges. This is insanely close.

bsky.app/profile/mike...
Based on the ballot-processing data, there appears to be 8,120 votes ballots left to count for the city.

But of those, there are signature challenges on 1,703 of them. This race could be decided on which voters get their signature problems resolved.

Yeah, so this is just disingenuous selective re-telling. Dude sucks.
November 11, 2025 at 12:15 AM
I wonder if that "10,000 remaining" estimate will shrink. They counted 3,277 more ballots today than they had estimated (35k) when they said 10,000 earlier, so it might stand to reason there's only like 6,723 ballots remaining to count...
November 11, 2025 at 12:13 AM
Yeah. So it's extra disingenuous to selectively highlight certain assets like that. Dude sucks.
November 11, 2025 at 12:07 AM
Aaand the reality: she got just under 56%, of today's 38,277 ballots that marked one of the two, putting her into the lead by just 91!

Monday drop.

WILSON LEADS FOR THE FIRST TIME ALL ELECTION!

It's neck and neck heading into the final count! She leads by 91 votes!

Only about 10,000 ballots remain, per reporting from @kromandavid.bsky.social. Cured ballots from the weekend will be counted tomorrow.

Why did he give her the whole retirement account? I thought things usually get split 50-50.
November 10, 2025 at 11:57 PM
Here's my made-up spreadsheet; gonna pre-register my prediction that Wilson gets somewhere between 56 and 60%, but this is why, by my math, 56% of today's drop is insufficient to take the lead. But maybe we are talking about slightly different things!

Doubles the movement? I just think you might be double counting the movement but idk.

All moot in an hour! We shall see!

The other sci-fi that engages with cloning and body doubles really well is Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga. (But not instantaneously a la Willy Wonka!). I'm just now finishing Mirror Dance and it's... Pretty fucked up but compelling.

In North Seattle terms, closing Lafayette and sending us all to Alki would be like closing Loyal Heights and sending everyone down the hill to a new building at the end of the parking lot in Golden Gardens.

Or for us in Belvidere, more like the trip from Whittier to/from GG.
November 10, 2025 at 10:21 PM
Yeah. It grinds my gears to think of shunting all of the Admiral plateau families down the hill to Alki, but for some families to opt into, rather than a soul crushing cross-bridge commute to Thurgood Marshall... Not so bad.

Pretty much anywhere else in the world I'd take Huguenot to be a weird shorthand for protestant, but... What on earth does it signify in London?
November 10, 2025 at 10:00 PM
That seems too strong to me. She's down 4,300. A 12-point margin (56-44) on 35,000 votes only nets her 4,200 votes, which still leaves her down 100.

Or do you mean like a 13-point margin thanks to undervote?
November 10, 2025 at 9:54 PM
Yeah if nothing else the saga proved that oversight and security camera coverage and guards' documentation practices are just routinely horrendously negligent, to the point that it would be trivially easy for anyone in authority to have prisoners murdered with nearly no chance of being caught.
November 10, 2025 at 8:50 PM
Whoa, great idea. Thank you!
November 10, 2025 at 8:43 PM
What's your math? A 12.2% margin on today's 35k ties the race, so then as long as she takes 50.1% of the remaining 10k, she wins?
November 10, 2025 at 8:14 PM
Ugh. I assumed it was all about equity, but that would have left all 3 schools untouched till the ceilings caved in on the disproportionately well-off and white kids.

Lafayette may have dodged this bullet but once Alki reopens with a gargantuan mostly empty building, they'll be looking to fill it.

NGL, I was kinda doing this inside at the news.

The nonsensical treatment of northern WS's big 3 elementaries continues to baffle me.

Lafayette: big and growing. Close it!

Alki: small and shrinking. Replace with a bigger building!

Genesee Hill: medium and shrinking. Replace with a bigger building!
