I think Democrats need to make clear that the while the government is shut down, Congress is not. It can and always has done its work during a shutdown.

Mike Johnson has made it appear in media that House can't do anything unless govt is open. Media doesn't correct him.

Every Venezuelan granted TPS through the July 31, 2023 designation has been rendered undocumented as of now, significantly increasing the undocumented population.
NEW: The Supreme Court allows the Trump administration to resume its termination of Temporary Protected Status for Venezuelan migrants, staying a lower court decision that had halted the process. Only Justice Jackson notes her dissent.

Breaking news: A hotline connecting air traffic controllers at Washington National Airport and their counterparts at the Pentagon had been “inoperable” since March 2022, a Federal Aviation Administration official confirmed Wednesday.
National Airport, Pentagon hotline had been disconnected for three years
Aviation officials learned of the issue after controllers at National had to order two flights to abandon landing attempts this month due to an Army helicopter heading to the Pentagon.

I took my 2 year old son to an MLB game today for some quality dad time and he absolutely had a blast. In fact, he was sad when the game ended because he wanted to stay at the ballpark. It was a good reminder that there’s still a lot of joy in life.

UPDATE: Visas of numerous students at University of California schools have also been revoked, including several at UC Berkeley, six at UC San Diego and eight reportedly at UCLA.

Many of those whose visas have been revoked appear to be foreign-born students who have engaged in political activism.
