I suspect they were arrested just to stop them doing what they were doing and to avoid any embarrassment to Trump, not because it was thought they were committing any offences

The backlog wasn't caused by juries or by Covid (although Covid exacerbated it). It was caused by austerity; closing courts and refusing to pay for enough judicial sitting days.
