This pullout area along Highway 14 is part of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. That big rock in the water is named Phoca Rock, said to be named after the genus Phoca, for the seals the European explorers found there.

I recall a 1973 Camas High School field trip here, counting single-driver cars and discussing urban planning. Later, we visited downtown Portland, where some smokers snuck away.
