Uncool in the North Country
A phrase that describes it came to me recently - the juice ain't worth the squeeze. I do not want to be the one hustling back and forth with venues and bookers, but I love to play out. It's tough out there though...

Serendipitously I saw Todd for the first time at Grimey's in October while I as in Nashville for the Jason Isbell Ryman run. That was my first time seeing him as well.

Oh no! Was set to see the Mavericks at a festival in April, would've been my first time.

And so has LA!

New York has already done this.

Well that's not entirely true.... some of the hits where part of my consciousness of course; but "All Things Must Pass" didn't seem to get a lot of classic rock radio play in my late 80's early 90's youth.
December 4, 2025 at 3:01 PM
I was not yet familiar with any of the solo stuff when the Anthologies came out and the "All Things Must Pass" demo was absolutely revelatory.
December 4, 2025 at 2:56 PM
Yea the stuff from the 30s and 40s is quite a bit different from the “modern” country of the 60s.

Do you listen to much “old time” music? If not Mother Maybelle’s style can take some getting used to. Additionally she was primarily a harmony singer and Sara was the lead in the original Carter Family. Maybelle’s primary contribution was amazing/innovative guitar style.

All those guys married with kids at 23? No off court controversies with any of them? What an ass take.

Well summer and fall. Leagues cup is in there as well as the Gold Cup likely being a pretty big roster hit. But I'd still be comfortable going for it.
May 23, 2025 at 2:10 PM
It's 3 more games to the title and they're spread out through the summer. I'd be willing to risk dropping a couple of points to prioritize Open Cup. I think we have the depth to still be a safe bet for top 4 in the west.

OK - I will concede it was not "active".... however I don't think it's unreasonable to say that looming MLS expansion into the Miami market was a significant factor in the Strikers going out of business. That said the general state of the NASL at that time was a bit of a shit-show.
May 12, 2025 at 4:02 PM
The Minnesota Kicks of the original NASL. Which MNUFC have honored unlike the Strikers which Inter Miami actively put out of business.
May 12, 2025 at 2:22 PM
Miami specifically disrespected that history and set up shop while an existing iteration of the Strikers (which DID have similar history to MN Soccer) were still a going concern. So while it is a bit petty and silly (it's just bantz after all) it is not without some merit....
May 12, 2025 at 2:19 PM
To be fair... MNUFC, and especially the fans, have honored the long history of lower level soccer here in the Twin Cities. The club that became the MLS Loons started as the Stars in 2010. And that was after more than 2 decades of the Thunder. The 49 years comment goes back to the Kicks of the 70s

Sorry if this is a dumb question - but are all drop off sites always available? If the business is open can I drop off supplies? Also is there anything you don't want? I have packaged (new) first aid kits and toothbrushes toothpaste to donate as well as clothes.
