I dunno, the way DOGE does math (by swapping millions to billions) they'd report it as a saving of 430%

Hello fren.

Dead Like Me! For a show that was about finding closure after a loss - it feels cosmically unjust that the show never got a finale.

I'd be fine with Zooologist.

This has two main issues:
1) Access. With everything sealed up, The crew doesn't have access to the deck.
2) Ventilation. The crew is probably going to want some oxygen at some point.

If you seal the boat, you're basically a submarine at that point.

To an extent, all ships are built this way. The main thing is keeping water from entering the ship. If you seal everything you can flip most any boat over and it will right itself (so long as the seals hold against water pressure).
That's where we get the phase "batten down the hatches"

Out of curiosity, was Phantom Menace your introduction to Star Wars, or had you seen the originals first?

For me, I agree, I watched old VCR recordings of the originals and loved them. I also didn't care much for the prequels. But I refuse to gatekeep other peoples' experience of any movie.
February 24, 2025 at 4:16 PM
Yeah, my main point was that, the Prequels were, in fact, beloved on release by many people. It's just those people were children at the time, so their opinions were not relevant at the time.
But now, those children who loved the prequels are, in fact, adults.
February 24, 2025 at 1:39 PM
Beloved... by who? If you were like me, born in the early 80s, you probably saw the original trilogy as a child. Then saw the prequel trilogy as an adult. Our opinion was loud.

But there were plenty of people who watched the Prequels as a child, who are adults today.

If memory servers, Vanguard is already short for "Advanced Guard"

This reminds me of the lesser known 3rd verse of "This Land (was made for you and me)":

"There was a big high wall there that tried to stop me
A sign was painted, said: Private Property,
But on the back side it didn’t say nothing:
This land was made for you and me."

Same. French press is the way to go! So much easier to clean than all other coffee machine nonsense. If there's one thing that ruins my morning, it's the taste of soap in my coffee. My daily clean with the french press is just boiling water and a rag. Weekends it gets a full soap wash.

IMO, the original Jurassic Park was squarely in the Horror genre. After that they rather quickly become Action movies. The practical effects in JP made it feel so claustrophobic - it was great. But with CGI it traded that intimacy for spectacle.
But who knows what's next!

I'm pretty sure that bright dot between them, close to the moon is Saturn as well. Nice shot!

I absolutely HATE takes like this! What is the moral of the story, that I should be pro-trump bc his policy IS actually better on immigration?

It reinforces the nationwide sentiment that "Both sides are bad. All politicians are hypocrites anyway so I may as well vote for the guy not in power."

Exactly! I say "Thanks Siri!" after she does any task for me. It's a modern Pascal's wager. IF there is an AI singularity, and IF that leads to them creating an AI version of heaven and hell for us meat-beings. I want to be sent to AI heaven.

you might be right. I didn't think he had legs, but googling it he has legs about 50% of the time (at least in the search results).

I'll allow it😋

Who is 3rd on bottom? My original thought was Atom Ant, but no antenna... so then I thought Harold (from the purple crayon) but I dunno seems wrong.

I had this exact argument with a guy at a bar one time. He was Anti-Regulation and pro RFK. He refused to say that "banning chemicals in food" would, in fact, be new regulations.

I am one of your constituents. Please be a leader.

Take a page from Jon Stewart (fighting for the 9/11 1st responders) - Go record the other senators. We need clips of the cowardly responses, we need clips of doors being shut in your face, we need something media can air. We need to see.
