i generally agree but that would be a whole separate project and ultimately we have a lot of huge houses in BC and in a lot of cases it would be a waste of space/resources to have only one household in them

the government doesn’t want to disincentivize homeowners renting out suites because it would reduce overall housing supply, but yeah allowed exceptions or different rules for purpose built vs owner-occupied rentals seems like an obvious solution
