/25 The receptionist had been there for decades — back, I am sure, to the era of reform-school boys. I am confident she had seen far more troubling hijinks. She didn’t have to help. But she smoothly saved me. And I remember her, 45 years later — a life ago. No doubt she’s gone now, but I remember.
