Peter David was a master storyteller—his runs on Amazing, Web, 2099, and especially Hulk were legendary. An Eisner winner, he also left his mark on Babylon 5 and Young Justice. His work inspired generations. A true icon—we’ve lost one of the greats.

Gearing up for Captain America: Brave New World in a few days! Just got the tix for me and the fam in IMAX. Ready to see Harrison Ford smash as Red Hulk! Excited to see Shira Haas as Sabra, just hope she's not turned into a generic Black Widow archetype. Otherwise, this is gonna be fun!

Dune Prophecy has been getting increasingly better in the past few weeks. I'm enjoying the palace intrigue. I'm still a bit of a newbie to the Dune-verse, and I'm curious about some of the other houses other than just the Atreides and the Harkonnens. But I'm cheering for Valya's comeuppance.

I'm loving Creature Commandos so far. James Gunn is blending great dialogue and characters with his classic tunes. Ep 3 has lots of blown-up Nazis and some great callbacks to one of DC's most underused characters, Sgt Rock. It's especially cool since we're getting a movie soon with Daniel Craig.

So Kraven comes out this week, and as a huge Spidey fan I want to be excited for it but, I'm just worried it's going to continue to drive down the stock on these great villains. The fact that it's rated R doesn't help to expand the audience either. So I ask you, who is this movie for?

I guess loyalty can be bought, but it depends on what Juan Soto agrees to. The Mets seemingly answered that question at 15 years and 765 million. As a Yankee fan, it sucks, but also as a baseball fan, this sets yet another dangerous precedent for free agency. Screw Scott Boras.

Episode 4 of Acolyte was probably the best of the series so far. I'm looking forward to seeing the Sith Master fight the Jedi and it is nice to see the practical effects on the show. Only thing for me is that Qimir seems to be the master, they aren't being subtle about it. I hope it's a misdirect.

Just caught up on the Acolyte 1&2 and it was ok. The first ten minutes of ep1 was great, between the action and initial setup but then it started to crumble into the 2nd episode. It was very plotty with almost no character development. The writing was clunky too. I'm hoping for better in ep 3.

We were celebrating my Rabbanit Dr's newest degree and rather than drink from the keg of glory she wanted to see the Yankees to celebrate, my kind of woman! Both games were amazing and they got the W, both of 'em!

I was in NY for my wife's graduation. She is now an official Rabbi! It took me a minute to figure out what comes first her Dr. title or Rabbi, it's Rabbi by the way and even more specifically it's Rabbanit. Anyway, I'm extremely proud of her and her new superpower to understand Jewish Law!

Another Crunchyroll movie coming to theatres this week 5/31, Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle. The animation is fantastic and you get an interesting look into Japanese volleyball, which it seems the Japanese National Team is a very big deal!

Took my boys to see Garfield today! They loved it. Highly memeable and the voice cast was fun. It's great for family and the kids, especially cat lovers. And it's short! Highlights: Snoop Dog as a cat, Ving Rhames doing a MI narration with music, and a nice Top Gun spot.

Wow, what a season for X-Men 97'! Every episode was near perfect, I could nitpick a few things but I won't. Looks like they are setting up Age of Apocolypse. Which is exciting. But I gotta say the writing again was so good. The Jean, Cyclops & Cable scene in the diner got me good. Bring on Season 2!

For May the 4th, I took the kids to see Phantom Menace at the theatre. Last time I saw it in a theatre, 1999. It's still not great but it's impressive how Filoni has strengthened the lore since then. Jar Jar and young Anni are still cringy, but it holds up much better then the first time I saw it.
May 5, 2024 at 5:23 PM
So I'm guessing that X-Men 97' is gearing up for a big crossover. I think they are adapting Avengers Vs. X-Men from the comics. Subtle hints from Cap about his team, seeing Doom and Zemo. X-Men 97 might even show up in Live action MCU for an incursion event, as alluded to by Reed Richards in MvoM.

The series finale for Bad Batch is here. I haven't loved this season as much as the last one, but it wraps up nicely here. the Bad Batch represents the end of the Clone era and the beginning of the Rebellion against the Empire. And props to Filoni for making a bad plot from the last film make sense

X-Men 97 keeps on delivering, episode 7 Bright Eyes brings the Butcher his bill. The amount of death on this show is staggering. The writing and animation have been near perfect. After Genosha these X-Men have changed especially Rogue, dark times indeed. Curious about Bastion and his endgame.

I had some mixed feelings about X-Men 97 episode 6 Lifedeath part 2. I feel like Lifedeath episode 1 they crammed two episodes in one. It was cool to see Prof X and the Shi'Ar but it felt like they were giving Storm & Forge short shrift. Still waiting to see the fallout from Remember it.
April 18, 2024 at 7:11 AM
Man, X-Men 97 Remember it, was a gut punch this week! I love the animation and especially the Gambit fight scenes here were brutal and amazing. I won't give it away but there was so much death and destruction in this episode it was almost haunting. Can Cable and time travel fix this?

We have some new Crunchyroll titles coming over the next few months that was announced at CinemaCon in Vegas this week. Haikyu!!: The Dumpster Battle in May and Blue Lock the Movie: Episode Nagi in late June. I'm still learning about these so I'm curious if anybody has thoughts about them.
