Not arguing the point, just noting that a private school is free to opt out of federal funds if it doesn't want the federal government to insist on particular conduct. Separately, I agree that the government should stay out of speech at the higher ed level.

Not really a private university - that suggests it is wholly privately owned and funded - sure, it is not owned by the state in which it is found, but it does get billions in funds from the government - by your logic, Title IX would not apply either.
