...I can understand the temptation to use this tool when reading loads are heavy. But ultimately, if someone wanted to become an expert in the ideas covered in this article, this overview would likely do more harm than good, particularly if it led to the person never reading the article... (5/n)

...this tool is tempting but ultimately detrimental. It didn't provide enough depth and was not-quite-right enough that it would likely lead graduate students (or other people who did not yet have expertise in the area) to construct misconceptions that would then be difficult to change... (4/n)

I doubt many people would just casually wonder about theory development in educational psychology, but I could imagine how a video like this would be useful for someone who was just curious about the "gist" of something. But for people pursuing expertise, such as graduate students... (3/n)

My take: US citizens do want universities to play a prominent role in society. Universities need to get better at communicating how they benefit society, including working for well-being, a global perspective, and environmental sustainability. If/when universities increase public trust...(3/4)
