Yeah??! Then I’m super pumped. Lol I lowkey love the 2002 version with baby Henry Cavill. Obviously adore the book too.

Lucky! We aren’t scheduled to get that until 2026 here in the US.
I’ve got the French version from last year floating around somewhere that I need to watch at some point.

They gotta get those views and clicks by jumping to conclusions before a a half-baked story comes out, which has to happen before the real evidence comes out, which won’t matter bc public opinions been swayed.

I’m still stuck on them trying to setup a sovereign wealth fund a while back. Just trying to shift all the money to a slush fund they can drain.

I’m so sorry Tilly. From what you’ve shared, your mom was a great lady and the world is gonna be worse off without her.
It’s hard to see a parent go and hopefully she wasn’t in too much pain at the end. I’m sure she was proud of you and loved you so keep those thoughts close as you navigate grief.

I don’t think they made a legacy adaptation of that Hammett book. There was an adaptation with Bruce Willis in 1990 (?) called Last Man Standing, but it felt a bit off from what I remember. I’d recommend the book, esp if you are into Hammett’s other work like Maltese Falcon or The Thin Man.

They need that sweet Maga-crybaby viewership. And god forbid anyone says anything bad about poor sensitive man-baby Trump. Facts be damned!

My top recommendations would be:

The Searchers
Stagecoach
High Noon
Shane

If you want to branch out more:

Rio Bravo (remade as Assault on Precinct 13)
3:10 to Yuma (I like the remake better, but still quite good)
Winchester ‘73
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance

The pre-Leone westerns were filled with machismo & tons of historical liberties but there was a lot of sentiment related to pioneering, settling, & braving the frontier, which can be argued as uniquely American homegrown :-)
A few are worth checking out, but similar to the Italian stuff, repetitive.

Totally agree and did not mean to derail your point. The John Wayne cowboy era is arguably the most homegrown set of American tropes and values. Now overridden and mostly forgotten. Just nuts that it was culturally repacked in the span of a generation or so.

100%. The lineage of film and pop culture themes is so interesting.

In the case of Yojimbo -> A Fistful of Dollars; an American pulp gangster story (Hammett’s Red Harvest) inspiring the Samurai film, then inspiring the Italian Western film.

Love it! Need a pint glass that changes color and shows “+1 Charisma” when alcohol is added.

Have one of the characters they kill be a major lieutenant of the main enemy of your campaign in disguise. They can barely survive, but if they loose some gold or weapons on top of being tough, it will teach them the necessary lesson real quick. 🙂

Feel better man! Hopefully it only has a minor impact and clears out soon.

That’s excellent news and one step closer to release. After a somewhat similar scenario to your mom, my dad ended up in a couple private rehab places. Not my favorite part of the experience, but with the right attitude it works great for people.

Dude looks like he should be one of the faces from the Monkey Island dial-a-pirate code wheel. lol

I hope your mom recovers quickly! That is scary and you can never prepare enough for dealing with parents getting suddenly sick.
Make sure that you make time for your own well being too while helping her. It’s draining and you’ll hit a wall mentally/emotionally if you don’t give yourself care.

I was trying to be a little snarky with that response. 😅

The “cake” is as buttery as it is sweet, right? We do have that kind of thing and people occasionally make a strawberry shortcake that is extremely similar to your delicacy. The base is like a sweetened Southern style biscuit.

So like a cupcake with a berry filling… except less sweet, flattened and denser cake, and more fruit.
July 17, 2025 at 4:27 PM
Yup! There’s the normal Republican & media outrage over some nonsense, and the billionaire class would still be trying to forcibly dismantle the country, but we’d have competent people are guardrails.

Simple message that needs to be shouted in Rs politicians faces, and at voters in TX.
In addition of plenty of other glaring issues… but Dem gotta burn this one into people’s brains.

His name was probably so pervasive they couldn’t even redact parts of it. “Referred by DJT” on too many people assume.
That or his name was attached to the most notorious and/or horrible parts.
