I guess ten years, per the caption.

The section pictured was redone when the building behind was built maybe 6 or so years ago? Could always be wider, but it is already relatively wide and in very good shape.

Yea, I agree it should go. And while there is an impact if you read the parks dept documents it is quite clear that it is already in a state too hazardous to maintain or partially modify. It's remove now, remove later, or a multi million dollar rebuild of some sort which is never going to happen.

They do need to remove almost all of that lightweight catwalk, etc, stuff from the outside to significantly reduce the hazard, it will look different. Imo they should do it, that stuff is only getting weaker and more dangerous and it is already in a state where maintenance is too dangerous.

Yep, even with all that it's still sort of just ok.

Yea, I90 is probably about the same. But I have only ridden it a couple times years ago.

No, sorry, in Seattle. Another freeway bridge with a bike path.
January 13, 2026 at 3:53 AM
The 520 bridge is probably about the very best case. Great views. Alternative routes more than 20 miles out of the way. And in the Seattle side you immediately leave the proximity of the highway. Not so much on the East side.

This also drastically reduces the difficulty of verifying that the same system works correctly.

It does make it way easier to implement a save system. Potentially you only need to store the id of the save point and a dozen or few dozen numbers related to the player.

And everyone who uses any transit mode stats and ends as a pedestrian.

City decisions about how the streets are built, what is built next to the streets, and what cars do are also hugely important to buses.

I was thinking about retractable bollards, without any research, and realized they probably have to go something like 7ft down into the ground, which is probably sometimes an issue downtown.

There are private ski bus services one can use already. It really is a great way to get up there. Skiing is still very expensive though.

Such executives can also be suckered by superficialities and oblivious to serious problems.

Some trees hit tier 2 at lower diameters. Depends on the species.

Bizarre slicing the Ronald McDonald House out of the Bryant center.

I think the "Friday the 13th" game had gameplay like that... But I never played it.
January 14, 2025 at 10:52 PM
I didn't use an umbrella until I had a mile and a half commute where I usually walked one way. They really are good on a lot of Seattle days. Not every day, but many.

And, yea, if it was really ugly out that was a bus-both-ways day.

As an example of "what's wrong with everything" it might be better looked at in the opposite direction. How our system tried to open a birth center that wasn't even needed in a wealthy city, even as they close in other areas.
December 17, 2024 at 3:22 PM
The birthing center had only existed for four years. It never drew enough patients to sustain itself.

It's not an example of long standing institutions collapsing, it's a new thing that didn't go as the creators hoped.
