Jeffco Clerk and Recorder
@jeffcoclerk.bsky.social
On a mission to make government and the democratic process work for all of Jeffco. Elections, DMV, marriage licenses, liquor licenses, recording, and passports.
Our bipartisan audit boards are now reviewing the selected ballots. They read the voter’s choices directly from the paper and enter them into the audit software to compare the paper record with how that ballot was originally counted.

Because we had more ballots returned than any other county, we have more ballots to look through to find our list, but it doesn’t necessarily mean we need to audit more ballots. The number of ballots we audit is based on how close the race was we’re auditing. Today we’re auditing 381 ballots.
November 18, 2025 at 6:19 PM
Our first job is to track down each ballot randomly selected for today’s audit. Every ballot gets a unique number when it’s scanned, so we can find that exact paper ballot again quickly and accurately.

That’s a wrap, Jeffco! 🎉

We were crossing our fingers for a 45% turnout and you said, “How about 45.11%?” 😎

We’re currently leading the state in turnout!

Thank you for showing up and making your voices heard loud and slightly above expectations!

It’s 7 p.m. and the polls are closed! 🔔 Thank you to all the Jeffco voters who participated in this year’s election!

It's the last day to vote, Jeffco! Come along with one of our bipartisan ballot transport teams to see how our ballot gets from the drop box back to our processing center!

Look, we know the DMV has a reputation for being slow, but we promise you’ll never be here long enough to gather cobwebs. 🕸️💀

(Our wait times average about 1-2 minutes if you have an appointment!)

This is what democracy smells like. Yes, we’re serious: These “I Voted” stickers are scratch-and-sniff! Democracy has never been so fresh.

Up in the dark for first chair. Dawn patrol for first tracks. Coloradans, we show up early. ⛷️

It’s Vote Early Day and drop boxes are open 24/7. Do the Colorado thing and return your ballot today.
October 28, 2025 at 2:02 PM
Today is the last day that we recommend returning ballots by mail! You can return them directly to a dropbox or vote center until November 4 at 7:00 p.m.

Giant spiders aren’t real (we don’t think), but they’re definitely not allowed to vote. If you can't find your ballot because the spiders hid it, visit any vote center to get a new one. And don’t worry, we’ll void your original one.

If your ballot is sitting there, not filled out because you’re not sure what your vote will mean, here’s a quick reminder:

✅ YES means you want a change
❌ NO means you want things to stay the same

Use your Blue Book and Notice of Election Booklet to learn about the issues! Happy voting!

Time for the big reveal! Introducing our latest, greatest, one-of-a-kind I Voted sticker…it’s scratch ‘n’ sniff!

And it smells like ✨DEMOCRACY✨

So, what does democracy smell like? You’ll have to swing by one of our vote centers this fall, from 10/27-11/4 to find out!
October 15, 2025 at 11:56 PM
Good morning, Jeffco! Ballots have been mailed out (maybe you even received yours already!) and drop boxes are open and ready to accept your ballot! 🗳

That’s a wrap on this year’s Logic & Accuracy Test!
Grateful to our incredible elections staff for their commitment to secure, transparent elections. Let’s vote! 🗳️🇺🇸
October 8, 2025 at 5:48 PM
All tests passed with 100% accuracy! Our LAT board has certified Jeffco’s tabulation system for the upcoming election. Ballots begin mailing this Friday. #VoteJeffco
October 8, 2025 at 5:47 PM
We’re making steady progress! Our LAT board is testing different pens, odd marks, and every possible voting style. So far: flawless results ✅
October 8, 2025 at 5:36 PM
Next up: adjudication, where we determine voter intent.

A bipartisan team reviews any ballot the scanner flags for unclear marks—smudges, checkmarks, double marks, or scribbles—to confirm how to count each vote.
October 8, 2025 at 4:50 PM
Accessibility matters. We’re testing our ADA-accessible ballot-marking devices, too.

These allow voters with disabilities to vote privately and independently, producing the same paper ballot that gets scanned and counted like all others.
October 8, 2025 at 4:46 PM
Let’s talk overvotes and undervotes:
✅ Overvote = picking too many candidates in one race (those votes don’t count).
✅ Undervote = leaving a race blank or voting for fewer than allowed.
Our LAT makes sure the system flags both correctly.
October 8, 2025 at 4:41 PM
In addition to all the test ballots marked by our party reps, we’re testing a full set of ballots representing all the different vote options to make sure every bubble will be read accurately. We’ll be testing around 3,300 ballots today.
October 8, 2025 at 4:32 PM
Now our Republican & Democratic representatives are hand-tallying their ballots. Once we have the machine totals, we’ll compare them line by line. Any mismatch? We pause and investigate.
October 8, 2025 at 4:30 PM
Our party representatives are learning about our tabulation machines as they prepare to tabulate their test ballots
October 8, 2025 at 4:20 PM
Here’s how we prove the system works ⬇️
1️⃣ Bipartisan teams mark & count test ballots by hand
2️⃣ Tabulator equipment counts them + a full deck of other test ballots
3️⃣ Results are compared and they must match exactly
It’s called the Logic & Accuracy Test, and it’s democracy’s quality check.
