That is probably true.

At least in basketball the success rate was better for coaches who had done well at two prior jobs was somewhat better when I looked into it many years ago… but the failure rate is still pretty high in all cases.

My longtime position is that no one should be surprised when a coach with a relatively short track record as a head coach moves to a new job and it doesn’t work out. Even when we think it is going to work.

My freshman year in the dorms and one of my neighbors drank a bunch of goldschlager and threw up in my sink. The cinnamon-scented vomit convinced me that I wanted nothing to do with it.

I am a Texas grad and they made the correct call. But I honestly would prefer to live in a world where that is a completed pass.
