It was a beautiful day for a walk, so i went to one of my favorite spots to do it, Birch Bay just south of Blaine, and about 18 miles north of Bellingham.

The national holiday in July I'm observing this year, of a country in far better condition than mine.

A solar powered lucky cat purchased at Daiso several years ago. I like to think it's helped guide me along my path.

A wall on the west edge of downtown Bellingham, at the corner of Holly and Bay streets. It allows people to write down in chalk what they'd like to do before passing. The responses are revealing. They are periodically erased to allow more people to write.

From an afternoon trip to Blaine, WA, a town with a bit over 6000 population on the Canada 🇨🇦 border. Most of its business is based around tourists going to or from Vancouver. The city of White Rock, BC is located across the bay, as seen in the last photo.

This has got to be the most densely landscaped and intricate garden I've ever come across. Out on the NW corner of Bellingham.

The neighborhoods northwest of downtown Bellingham are often visited by deer. This one was nibbling on a bush in the Fountain district when I came across it. Photo taken from about 20 feet away with zoom lens.

I get a lot of owl photos on my feed. There are no live owls where I live AFAIK, but here is a statue of an owl outside the downtown branch of our public library.

Today is the first day of spring, so here are a couple of photos of flowers and blooms to make your feed include something other than the current political mess.

This was handed to me at the St. Patrick's Day parade yesterday. Nice idea, and worth the listen, but we need to defeat the fascists first before we even consider new ways of government since there's no going back to how things used to be.

Taking a break from the political chaos, I watched the local St. Patrick's Day parade. It was mostly community groups - dancers, kids, pets - the highlight was the pipe band supported by the Bellingham pub Uisce. Video below.

I've been taking random photos of Bellingham to get a better feel for the area since I moved here last month. This is looking south down Cornwall Avenue back toward downtown at sunset.
