What actually happened? Modest, positive change.

Most corners remained residential in the neighborhoods worried about rapid change. Some vacants and some houses were converted into thriving small businesses with housing above them.

The world didn't end, it got a little better.

Well well well, look who almost right hooked me while riding my kid to school this morning!

If your car was struck by a hit-and-run driver last night at University and 39th, my wife was a witness. Feel free to DM.

The VA TKU-9573 tagged vehicle has over $900 in unpaid red light and speed camera citations.

The next phase of hardening #BigJumpBaltimore is underway.

Full hardening of the 28th Street Bridge, removal of the old plastic water barriers, and sweeping of the lane should be complete by early next week.

Next up: striping and signage. less

DOT has now requested a formal MOT amendment. I helped the contractor draw up plans for a compliant same-side detour. The contractor and Seawall are drafting the modification and submitting it for DOT approval.

The work will continue through at least February so hopefully we'll get a detour soon.
September 3, 2025 at 3:46 AM
I requested an MOT review to permit an in-street detour on that side and the DOT traffic chief sent an inspector with instruction to tell the contractor to implement what the contractor proposed.

The inspector instead said the status quo was fine.

I escalated this to leadership.

Another great Mount Royal Soaps Night Market supporting small businesses and makers in Remington.

Unfortunately tonight a car with $1129 in unpaid speed/red light tickets blocked a vendor space.

Can't be towed because the city isn't authorized to tow for those unpaid violations.

Maybe don't run red lights right next to schools idk

Another great Night Market at Mount Royal Soaps in Remington.

More neighbors make better neighborhoods.

And walkable small businesses unburdened by parking requirements help our neighborhood thrive.

What if drivers didn't try to murder my family on the childcare run?

It feels like 20° outside with 20mph winds.

I'm told that's too cold to bike so Baltimore shouldn't invest in bike infrastructure.

Yet I had 8 people in front of me and 5 people behind me in a single block while the car lane was empty?

Cars Ruin Everything Around Me: elderly driver smashing into a concrete barrier and boardwalk addition.

In-street sidewalk in place while we get replacement quotes. 🙃

Great to see @bmorecitydot.bsky.social installing the speed humps for 26th and 27th streets originally committed by 2015 and again before the Big Jump extension in 2023.

While they'd ideally have been in place from the start to slow any diverting traffic, the next best time is now!

Charm City Lights is back!

Take a drive with the whole family for $12.51. Wanna walk or bike with that same family? That'll be $23.18.

Rec n Parks continuing to fail Baltimore families with car-oriented programming.
