Recent events in the US are showing (at least to me) what happens when the larger population (including left wing ppl like me) allow one specific groups’ needs and protections to be disregarded. They end up subject to state-backed persecution and that’s playing out in realtime in Minneapolis.

In retrospect, I wish I had more sensitive in this post (especially to the other person who deleted their comments, or blocked me. Can’t tell which). I respect why people were so angry now. It’s not ok to disregard a marginalized group or their concerns and that’s what I was doing and I feel bad now

Oh nice, I’ll give it a watch then. I appreciate your videos because you have a real reverence for the medium of video games and I’ve learned a lot from watching. Thanks for the response.

And also the RT performance was just abysmal and FSR2 was so bad back then relative to DLSS.

I may get AMD next time but I’m riding the RAM-pocalypse out with this card. Had a 6700xt and didn’t have the best experience and wasn’t really knowledgeable about Linux then. Freesync wouldn’t work like Gsync does, I’d still get tearing. And sometimes my driver would get deleted by Windows updates.
December 24, 2025 at 3:45 PM
I would if Nvidia would ever get their Linux drivers fixed. My 4070 would perform like a 4060-4060TI on Linux and certain features might not work at all.

But even if you don’t believe that’s true, Steam OS/Bazzite basically is undeniably better of an experience than Windows for playing single player titles. The fact that games perform better running through Proton than natively on Windows is just inexcusable and embarrassing for Microsoft.

Yeah but surely a commercial product by one of the largest tech companies in the world should be held to a higher standard than free software like Linux.
December 24, 2025 at 1:10 PM
Oh true, sorry I misunderstood you. Yeah that’s fair. People ought to know at this point that if they want a competent version of a game (especially 3rd party) then Series X is the console to get. Not giving my Series S the same amount of RAM was such an oversight.

But Id say we’ve finally arrived at a good enough level of fidelity to be able to run modern games as of this generation. Most Switch 2 ports have been pretty good, most of the ones that aren’t so good are because of rushed development and not the hardware itself (if you have realistic expectations)
December 24, 2025 at 2:24 AM
Well the ones I mentioned weren’t really fine, HL was impressive that it was attempted AT ALL but it looked like they had to take a chainsaw to it to get it onto Switch and Bayonetta had pretty disappointing IQ and performance for a game being published by Nintendo. Hopefully NSW2 version happens.
December 24, 2025 at 2:17 AM
It’s all interconnected. Xbox leadership (either through their own fault or from tampering by the MS CEO/CFO) have made numerous critical mistakes this generation, those mistakes have led to confusion and disappointment of the fanbase, leading to DF’s reaction and negativity in response to all that.
December 24, 2025 at 2:10 AM
My point is- if I was Alex/DF, then I would think to myself “why make videos about a hardware platform that doesn’t have a real future or next generation if Xbox themselves aren’t committed to it, when people just aren’t watching the videos?” Thats why they should launch Magnus as soon as possible.
December 24, 2025 at 12:20 AM
I think it will be different when we finally see what they’re planning. Currently they have Series consoles but it feels like MS isn’t committed to them based on the prices and Rog Xbox Ally X is cool but it’s supplementary (and doesn’t support the back library). Ppl wanna see what’s next for Xbox.
December 24, 2025 at 12:16 AM
And all of them could do better honestly. Nintendo with their software pricing/game key cards. PlayStation with their PS5 Pro pricing and live service misfires. And Xbox with all hardware pricing, gamepass pricing, and not doing enough to encourage devs to support the hardware ecosystem as a whole.
December 23, 2025 at 11:05 PM
I get what you’re saying, that there’s a difference between criticizing software on a platform vs criticizing the platform itself. I feel like DF has been harsh sometimes but it’s because they want Xbox to improve and they want to signal to current management that they’re not doing enough for users.
December 23, 2025 at 11:02 PM
It doesn’t excuse the poor state of the OS, if it was even in a semi-acceptable state, they wouldn’t have so much ammo to use going after it. It’s been getting continually getting worse for years at this point. They’re doing consumers a solid by talking about it on their channel.
December 23, 2025 at 7:49 PM
I love seeing them trash Windows (and I game on Windows for the record), Microsoft needs to take Alex’s advice and release a paid version of Windows with no AI/Online requirement/data harvesting/etc. I would pay extra for that. They also need to realize how important gaming is to their platform.
December 23, 2025 at 2:37 PM
And Switch 2 is hopefully getting more competitive on the third party front. We have current gen Ubisoft and lots of Square/Sega/Capcom titles. We just need more western publishers to take it seriously besides CDPR/Ubisoft. I think the death of Xbox as a console will help NSW2 get more 3rd parties.
December 23, 2025 at 2:31 PM
I don’t think that’s fair- I’m a Nintendo platform user and they have had scathing reviews in the past (many of them were justifiable like Hogwarts, Bayonetta 3). I appreciate knowing if substandard software is being released so that I can avoid it. DF tries to be fair as far as I can tell.
December 23, 2025 at 2:27 PM
I’m lucky that I just happened to decide to build a gaming PC in 2023, so thankfully I don’t need to buy anything right now. Definitely won’t be upgrading anytime soon, even the old DDR4 has gone up too. I don’t get what is supposedly so amazing about LLMs, they don’t seem that revolutionary to me.
December 4, 2025 at 8:49 PM
I wish @dark1x.bsky.social would’ve had the Switch OLED version. I need advice about which version to play in handheld mode. I could see him advising playing Switch OLED for handheld (over NSW2 handheld) and stick with Switch 2 for docked mode on a screen with better motion clarity.
December 2, 2025 at 7:51 PM
Yeah but can’t publishers and platform holders authorize sales of physical games through retailers by doing some kind of manufacturer discount or something? I thought that’s how it worked.
