Really enjoyed “Still Thatcher’s Britain?” hosted by @robertsaunders.bsky.social at @mileendinstitute.bsky.social.

My favourite, if sad observation of the night was @philipjcowley.bsky.social’s observation that we’re no longer in an era of policy detail, which was a hallmark of MT’s leadership.

@benjaminjriley.bsky.social funny you should reply - a colleague just forwarded this ebook to me and I thought of your Substack (which I'm enjoying greatly). Hope it doesn't make your blood boil too much

Feeling unduly smug that I managed to squeeze Grant Mitchell, Voyager 1 and the formal beauty of Middlemarch into the same newsletter

Calls to ban under-18s from talent shows like X Factor are gaining momentum. But are we really willing to stop monetizing young talent and prioritising their mental health?

Exactly this - a lot of the hype around AI currently rests on a vague narrative of 'efficiency' or 'innovation' with no real vision for how you make it happen. Blair is particularly guilty of this.

Wrote about this back in August

By all means write about how Downing Street is under-powered and over-stretched (like @samfr.bsky.social ) has done. But this is an article about the seating chart in Downing St and its deeper meaning for Starmer's project.

Journalists have too much time on their hands.

New BBC drama 'The Way' doesn't make any sense. Here's why.
