To renew democracy, study it holistically.

Draw on five sources: individual people, groups, non-textual media, texts, and non-humans.

Do this across cultures, languages, and species to uncover unfamiliar practices beyond Western views.

Our readers are talking about the 'Fourth Theorist' of democracy.

This person is yet to exist.

They will be the first to theorize from thousands of practices and millions of texts/other on democracy.

New book share. UCL Press published our Sciences of the Democracies last week in open access PDF.

A core implication of the book is that it seeks to revive basic descriptive research to lay the groundwork for stronger and more inclusive theories of democracy.
