But we also had social safety nets like Medicaid and SNAP. We had a mostly democratically elected government w/features of socialism like public schools, public roads & a publicly funded military. I thought it was smart of us to take the best of several systems to create our republic.

It’s my personal belief that no “pure” system is perfect & that applies to both political and economic systems. I think we use to do a good job of balancing different systems within our constitutional republic. We had a capitalist economic system that favored the wealthy that needed fixing. #1 of 2
