The terrible news from Munich and Vienna seems to fit into the trend of more small-scale jihadist attacks in Europe.

We wrote about periods of disbalance between the threat and responses to it, leading to both overreactions as well as "jihadism fatigue".

It hardly makes headlines anymore. But the situation regarding the SDF-controlled camps with thousands of IS fighters, including many Europeans, is concerning. US' aid is crucial in supporting the Kurdish forces to contain the threat.

A halt in foreign aid may undermine American organizations’ support for forces that guard the two largest camps holding Islamic State members and their families.

The claim that there is no precedent for the eclectic far right ideology of the Magdeburg attacker is not accurate if you consider that the Munich shootings in 2016 by a member of the Iranian diaspora were driven by similar hatred of social diversity

While the modus operandi of the attack in Magdeburg is very similar to Berlin 2016, the ideology seems to be widely different. Perpetrator seems to be an ex-Muslim, anti-Islam activist, AfD supporter, with far-right and conspiratorial views www.spiegel.de/panorama/jus...

Terrible news from Magdeburg. Man drives into crowd on the Christmas Market. Many are injured and several killed. The police has arrested the perpetrator. It is likely to be a terrorist attack, very similar to the Berlin Christmas Market Attack on Dec 19, 2016.
