Yet with so many successfully formed Chrysalis I'll be quite satisfied if 40% makes it to adult monarchs. I was able to get a time lapse of one forming their chrysalis. And accidentally captured one in the background starting the first phase j-hanging!

A few have died to their natural predators. Spiders in the first photo and flies in the second photo.

To prevent Monarchs from laying eggs to just be eaten as well providing a proper place for them to pupate my boyfriend and I created an impromptu mesh enclosure.

Continuing with the theme of learning as I go. I found out that they actually do eat so much. Which includes eating other monarch eggs!

At first I started stealing away the chunky littl' guys. Placing them in an upsidedown mesh laundry basket with their own milkweed.

We planted Milkweed in our garden and this year the butterflies were laying over 40 eggs on it.
