Question for anyone who has a copy of Suspended:

Does anyone else have this particular document in their box? It is in mine, but I don't see it on any of the "documentation" sites

Next on All the Adventures, Castle Dracula, an adventure that tries for much more driving tension than the haunted house games previously seen in the project; the author calls it an “interactive ghost-train ride”.

Lance Micklus (of Dog Star Adventure, 1979, 1st parser game with source code in a magazine) also wrote Treasure Hunt, an amped-up version of Hunt the Wumpus. The exact layout had been under debate, but he just found the original and dropped it as a comment on my blog.

in Denis Through the Drinking Glass (1983) you play the husband of Margaret Thatcher who wants to just sneak out and get a pint

Next on the docket I have an adventure game with a complicated multi-part history dating back to 1949 and a rare emulator. The game itself feels like it dropped from a different universe.

Post by Friday I'm guessing? Preview screenshot.

Thanks!

I've certainly thought about it and have some partial scripts. Making that type of content is quite time-intensive, though.

In fact, the best outcome (FULL PROFESSOR) is only possible by kowtowing quite a few times, because you can't beat the game in 50 moves.

Also, if you overshoot, your score loops back to ultra-positive.

The upshot is that even if your score is heavily damaged, you can shoot it all the way back to approval and get your doctorate just by being polite over and over. Just like academia!
May 21, 2025 at 12:26 AM
The variable MW is "magic word". If you follow hints about "being polite", you can discover SAY WELCOME will teleport you to the WELCOME mat that starts the game. You can pick up the mat and carry it around to wherever you want so you have a teleport spot.

Specifically, the game gives you a "diploma" when you win, and it accounts for things like how many moves you took, if you asked for hints, and if you checked your inventory (which does, yes, cause damage to your score).

I just finished posting about the eccentric and highly obscure Apple II game The Maze. I just discovered something new that I've updated the post with, but it's a hilarious enough side effect I'm making a thread. 🧵

How'd you get that?

Bluesky folks out there, any idea what this item is? From the Apple II game from 1981 called The Maze. Can't pick it up, ignore the horizontal line behind which is background.

I have tried:

BOX, PACKAGE, DISK, CONTAINER, CUBE, REAM, PAPER, ERASER, MAGNET, CRATE, CART, CARTON, BOOK, VOLUME, TRAY
