Russia, the American right, Israel, Nazi Germany, contemporary Germany with the AFD, the British right, I’m sure I could think of more but it’s insane how much of reactionary politics really just comes down to having a massive victim’s complex and it’s not actually any deeper than that.

there is an extent to which "moderate" is the designation voters use to describe candidates that they like, which pundits then read as a validation of the candidate's posture
