Hard to believe that the fine folks at Apple Music can’t find a way to squeeze the length of tracks into their UI somewhere. Very frustrating as a fan of progressive rock where some tracks are a minute and others are 20+

Vol. 4 marked Black Sabbath’s expansion into more experimental territory, blending crushing riffs with orchestral flourishes, eerie ballads, and a heavier dose of cocaine-fueled creativity. The working title of the album was “Snowblind”

Does anyone else use one of these to clean their records? I switched from a brush four years ago and would never go back.

Released in 1988, Operation: Mindcrime is Queensrÿche’s breakthrough — a concept album fusing sharp political commentary with progressive hard rock. With its cinematic scope, melodic precision, and narrative depth, it redefined what metal could aspire to be.

Released in 1977, Songs from the Wood marked the start of Jethro Tull’s folk rock period. The album draws on British folklore and rural themes, blending progressive rock with acoustic and classical elements. It was the first in a trilogy, followed by Heavy Horses and Stormwatch.

Thin Lizzy’s Thunder and Lightning (1983) roars with heavier riffs and a sharper edge, thanks to new guitarist John Sykes. As their final studio album, it’s a blazing farewell—harder, faster, and defiant to the end. A metal-tinged sendoff for a rock legend.

With Revolver, The Beatles exploded past pop boundaries, blending psychedelic soundscapes, Indian influences, and studio wizardry into a revolutionary sonic leap. In countless polls, including Rolling Stone and Mojo, it’s often ranked as the greatest Beatles album of all time.

Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here channels grief and disillusionment into an atmospheric tribute to former bandmate Syd Barrett. With themes of absence and industry critique, it struck a chord—reaching No. 1 in both the UK and on the US Billboard 200.

Elton John takes a darker turn on Madman Across the Water, weaving brooding piano, dramatic strings, and Bernie Taupin’s vivid storytelling into a haunting blend of rock and theater. The album peaked at No. 41 in the UK and No. 8 on the US Billboard 200.
