I hope t lives out his term. I’d hate to jump out of the pot and into the fire.

I have absolutely no idea what these communities were thinking; the Somalis discussed here, the Middle Easterners in Michigan and Black as well as Spanish Americans everywhere. What did they think this guy was going to do for them? Voting has consequences.

Hassett used to be an economist I used to listen to with opinions worth considering. However ever since he hitched his wagon to t I find less and less of what he says and does of any value. I shutter to think that he may be the next Fed Chairman.

I see here a lack of understanding and some ‘old think’. The US does have a policy. T wants an end to the war on Putin’s terms. Period.
December 4, 2025 at 2:50 PM
You will note that I have already totally discounted any aid from the US. T is unwilling to cross Putin for some reason know only to himself.

It is unlikely that Ukraine has the will, manpower and money to prevent this. Prevention comes in the form of a long war of attrition. Who will blink first? Putin has made it clear that he will use the full resources of the country with the most resources to the end. Europe won’t save the Ukraine.

Would you buy military hardware from a country that might be putting 'back door' into the equipment to be activated when the supplying country thought fit? I would certainly be reluctant. The probability of this kind of development is not zero where the US, Russia, China or Israel are the source.

I expect Jack Smith to demand an open-door interview and not show up if this isn't in the offing. No jury would find him in contempt if he did so. Not demanding an open-door interview would be stupid, and Jack Smith is not stupid.

Synopsis: US to Putin - the Ukraine won’t buy it. We will stay neutral and do nothing - no aid to Ukrainians. Europe is a problem. They want to help Ukraine but may not be able to overcome internal divisions or find the money. Advice: keep up pressure on Belgium re holding your assets. Continue war.

Republicans always make a good show of trying to do the right thing just before they fail to do that right thing.

My policy is to only believe it when it actually happens.

It’s very infrequent (never say never) that in the end, when the rubber hits the road, that the ‘right thing’ gets done.

There’s an easy way around and a better indicator. Investigate current home insurance costs and their rate of increase. Even check with the insurer to make sure they have no plans to curtail home insurance in the area you are interested in. This is data you can rely on. Better than that from Zillow.
December 1, 2025 at 3:30 AM
This increase is being driven almost in totality by 2 emperors - one in china and one in russia.

The Bears were very lucky to win. Even later in the game there was a possibility that the Eagles could get it together and recapture the lead. Good for the Bears they couldn’t and it wasn’t only due to their stalwart defense. Eagles were the author of their own demise. Hurts was well ‘off’.

What do you do when the data and common sense don’t coincide?

This is a round-about way of saying that I don’t believe the data.

Suffocating bureaucracy weight: why. Because businesses and other entities can’t be trusted to do the right thing. They are either too stupid, or too profit oriented to prevent harm resulting from their actions. Don’t know of any other solution. Taking bureaucracy away however exposes us to the harm

This in my view is bullshit. I believe in tough love. Throughout a long life and experience I find it works.

I do not use it to drive conformity. At least I try not to, but to foster ‘normality’.

How do elite bankers make money? They get a piece of the bank’s earnings thus less interested in making good loans, rather profitable loans; loans that make money at least until they get their bonuses. Any resulting banking crisis (of loans not being repaid) is ok. The ‘public’ will pick up the tab.

Shades of Reagan’s ‘Strategic Defense Initiative’. The initiative was strongly supported by the self-proclaimed father of the hbomb, Edward Teller. It never went too far but I hold it, at least partially, responsible for the fall of the old USSR who realized they couldn’t keep up money or tech-wise.

This is the kind of rhetoric you would expect from China as it gets ready to subsume Taiwan. China must certainly look at having t in DC as a plus, and in the news of late are countries (Japan and Taiwan itself) arming to prevent the eventuality. It’s starting to look like ‘now’ rather than ‘later’.
