And as many bad feelings as I have about LLMs, they’re actually quite good at giving you reading lists or entry points into an area of research, after which you can do everything yourself.

Look, I get it, there are papers out there that are barely tractable even to experts (I’m looking at you, Tarjan). But you can get really far with a little practice, effort, and supplementary resources.
