It’s finally reached that point where the word “book” in the subject line or summary automatically = spam. If this indie author is receiving multiples of these per day, I can only assume the process is fully automated and essentially free. But also super-easy to filter out, sight unseen.

I’m not a big review reader (as evidenced by the date), but I love seeing a review like this, and that feeling of connection through the page with someone I’ll never meet. The Last Shadow is a few years old now, but I still think of it almost every day, like a memory I made for myself. Is that odd?

I’ve always thought of it more as a mesh gradient, as found in illustration tools. But 2D may be too limited, too…

Excited to share the stunner of a cover for @nicksnapeauthor.bsky.social’s dark arcanepunk fantasy, A Dragon of the Veil. Bring the mayhem! Find it here: books2read.com/adragonofthe...

I included a #noAI pledge in my most recent newsletter, and just received this wee note from a reader. I read to connect, to engage with a viewpoint. If there’s no one at the other end—if the words are just formatted generative output—then it may as well be IKEA instructions or tax codes.

I know it sounds hyperbolic, but this actually is one of the happiest days of my life. 🇮🇹 #italian #citizenship

That is lovely, and definitely evokes a musical notation. And it makes sense, given the orchestration involved. I know not all do this sort of thing up front, but I find it useful and rewarding. Here’s me mapping out my trick wormholes (because the conventional ones just wouldn’t do).

So excited that my novel CHRONOPHORE was just awarded third place in the 2025 Andromeda Award competition. I entered on a whim, which makes the honor especially dreamy. Thanks to @unitedtalentagency.bsky.social and their partners!

Yes, session and total, and both can be adjusted. I think that last screenshot is the iPad version, so here’s what it looks like in the desktop version. (I use both.)

Totally understand about life happening! We find moments in the cracks…

Scrivener’s version, in case that’s relevant.

Just found out that my novel CHRONOPHORE has been shortlisted for the 2025 Andromeda Award, and my brain has turned into fluff. I’m seriously honored, and congrats to all my shortlist buddies. Cc @unitedtalentagency.bsky.social #scifiwriters

Whew. “Final” edit is now final, and winging its way back to the agent. Added ~20k words to this time travel tale vs. the version they first plucked from the pile. Pleased with the result, now multi-POV vs. my standard single-POV!

But I’ve forgotten how to blink, so now some R&R. #amwriting

This is exactly why Bartleby the scrivener is my hero.

Oh wow, talk about a pedigree—two of my favorite things in the world came together, Python and Banks. For #sci-fi fans, that “etc.” is doing some heavy lifting. Excerpt from Michael Palin diaries.

My whole deal is that I’m a sci-fi writer. If you love stories where normal people face extraordinary challenges—which may involve wormholes, world sims, alien skins, or lost twins—I’d love to send you a free copy of my twisted little short story “Fruiting”! Details in the comments…
