Software developer, noise maker and cat dad. Still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.
Any plans to bring back the podcast?

Cats are just naturally drawn to the keyboard and only the keyboard.

The gamble of how much to spend when is the true test of a human life. You want to spend everything you have before you die without leaving yourself destitute.

How do you prove a negative?

If you burn down a forest, you don't miss out on lumber for just that season. You have to replant all the trees, nurture them, and wait for them to grow.

The science and research budget cuts happening now are wanton, senseless arson. Recovery, if it ever happens, will take generations.

I grayer beard than I could do it all with find, grep, sed and awk. Which and even grayer beard would consider lazy.

A new computer and gems is what killed my jekyll install. Python arguably worse. I love the way python treats directories as packages (just put the files in the place!) but pip and virtualenv have taken over mostly. We've successfully make interpreted languages harder to set up than compiled ones.

Hugo was no less locked into someones preferred setup though a single binary was appealing.

For now once I have it where I like it I'm going to check in my `node_modules` dir. The number of dependancies every node thing has boggles my mind. DRY is not a religion. You can repeat yourself for simple things...

One of the reasons I had to drop jekyll was it breaking every few years. It's not a business for me and I don't want to have to budget any time for upgrades. You don't install eleventy you install it and all it dependancies and you're again, to some degree, bound to the dependency graph.

I'm currently about done converting to eleventy from jekyll. I disagree though. I've had to make a lot of changes to my configuration so my links don't break and if I could just access the path from `file -> processing -> output` I choose a markdown engine and whatever else.

It is a term for something though.
