It was a different time. Post-war denominations were at their peak of social influence and bureaucratic bloat. Berger's concern about loss of credibility was prescient, but I wonder how he would treat today's de-centralized religious movements fueled more by social media and disinformation? Cynical?

Well-articulated, Andy. I don't know that it's a clean bifurcation between liberal vs. conservative, but perhaps the migration is more about a desire for a detox from algorithmic feeds, rampant bots and trolls, etc. I agree that it would be unfortunate to further silo good actors between platforms.

I agree. Though there was social upheaval, there was were also breakthroughs in social justice.
