Me and a friend have had a joke for a while now that both parties are a race to the bottom bitterly wrestling over the L. As soon as one party manages to take the L the other dives after it.

In total fairness it sucks that I now have to scrutinize something like this very carefully to determine if it's a real product, and at some point I will have to just assume it's not and or base it on difficulty to manufacture because the illusion will be perfect.

1. The stochastic paper in fact has as a key premise that LLMs "have access to form but not meaning".
2. I didn't say the paper says anything about generalization, though it in fact does since it implies meaning cannot be inferred from form.
3. The premise in 1 implies not understanding because 2.
