Been here for a while, but I guess posting a pic of your pet is proper introduction etiquette, so here's Penny looking disheveled. Anyway, I study Scottish lit and culture, the history of the novel, and 18th/19th c. British literature.

One of the best things Pearl Jam does is offer high quality live recordings of every show they do. The recording of the 2024 Missoula show arrived yesterday.

Most recent antiquarian book acquisition: a 1790 edition of Milton from a Spokane vintage shop. The boards are in rough shape on the corners, but the binding is solid and there's very little foxing. An excellent find!

Went to Banff, hiked around, saw some glorious lakes and mountains. 10/10 would recommend to everyone.

Friends, I'm at Railhead Smokehouse in Fort Worth. I have a frosty Shiner Bock, a plate of brisket, and until the brisket and Shiner are gone, all will be right with the world.

I've been obsessed with standing stones, megaliths, cromlechs, barrows, and the like since I was a kid. So when I was in Wales last month, I was so excited hike across a cow pasture to visit Bryn Celli Ddu. 10/10 would recommend to everyone.

Found this gorgeous set of books at a vintage store last week. *An Universal History* was a 60-volume set published in London between 1747 and 1768 and was the first attempt in English at a truly comprehensive world history. I have 19/60 volumes - now what should I do with them?

Moving to a new office after nine years in the old office, and I really need to get my book habit under control.

Just heard that J. Paul Hunter has died. I never had the chance to meet or correspond with him, but his *Before Novels* remains one of my favorite texts for thinking about prose fiction in English and the history of the novel as a messy, not entirely linear progression.

I'm a @GonzagaU alum, and I work across the river from campus. Took a glorious stroll over there today on my lunch.
