True, but then with the likes of Werner I think there was so much pressure on him to score goals that it destroyed his confidence when that didn’t happen. Xavi won’t be measured on his goals, just his overall influence on games more generally, which should work in his favour

He’s been one of my favourite players in Europe for a few years now. I thought it would be the likes of City in for him but I guess his stock isn’t as high outside the Bundesliga as I thought it was.
Never would’ve thought we’d be able to pull this one off!

Yeah, think in many ways they’ll learn a whole lot more from that result than they would’ve if they’d coasted to a 2-0 win (not that it wouldn’t have been preferable to do that!)

You should definitely go and read The Bloodsworn Saga by @johngwynneauthor.bsky.social as not only does it not do this, it has some of the most empowered female characters in the genre
